SB 1259 has already passed the Senate and its Asse

SB 1259 has already passed the Senate and its Assembly policy committees. It now heads to the floor for a full vote in the Assembly.

For generations, communities in Carson, Wilmington, and Benicia have lived in the shadow of refinery operations - breathing in toxic air, watching neighbors get sick, dealing with flares and explosions.

Now, as refineries close or idle, those same communities are being asked to plan for what’s next without knowing the most basic facts:
How contaminated is the site?
How much will cleanup cost?
Who’s paying for it?

Every other heavily polluting industry in California - coal, nuclear, solar - has to disclose this before they shut down. Refineries don’t. #sb1259 , the Refinery Transparency Act, closes that gap.

💧 Drink water—especially drinks with electrolytes—every 15–20 minutes.
🚫 Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks.
👕 Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when possible.
⏸️ Take every break you can, especially in the shade or a cool place.
🤝 Take care of your coworkers.

Heat illness can happen fast, especially if you work or spend time outdoors.

Knowing the warning signs could save a life.

Watch for:
💦 Heavy sweating
😵 Dizziness
🤕 Headache
💪 Muscle cramps
🤢 Nausea

If someone shows signs of heat illness, move them to a cool place, give them water if they are awake and alert, and seek medical help if symptoms get worse. Call 911 if they become confused, lose consciousness, or have hot, dry skin.
